New Rochelle resident Alexis Colchado-Reyes, 24, was indicted by a Westchester County Grand Jury and charged with attempted criminal sexual act, sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child dating back to an investigation launched in May.
Prosecutors allege that on Tuesday, May 19, Colchado-Reyes allegedly assaulted his 7-year-old victim.
Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. said that the child told her mother about the alleged abuse, who immediately contacted police.
The child was taken to the hospital and was seen by a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.
After receiving medical treatment, Scarpino said that a Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit was collected and subsequently taken to the Westchester County Department of Laboratories and Research for testing.
Later, the victim was forensically interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center.
The investigation determined that Colchado-Reyes allegedly sexually abused the girl.
Colchado-Reyes was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
“This case illustrates the special attention child victims are paid by trained professionals in the field, from child advocates, to nurses, and the staffs of the Children’s Advocacy Center and our Special Prosecution Division,” Scarpino said. “The trauma a child goes through is considered through the whole process but it is never easy. We credit this family for all they have done to stop this alleged predator.”
